A seminar on improving the quality of education in the PIIMA system takes place

On 9-10 November, a seminar dedicated to improving the quality of education in creative schools was held in Tashkent.

The seminar "New Uzbekistan starts from the threshold of school" was organized by the Agency for Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools (PIIMA) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The workshop was attended by directors and their deputies of creative schools, operating in various regions of Uzbekistan.

Opening the seminar, PIIMA director Khilola Umarova emphasized that such seminars serve not only to exchange experience and skills, but also to agree on future plans for the development of educational institutions.

Within the framework of the seminar, heads of creative schools made a presentation on the activities, shortcomings and problems in the educational institutions.

Together with the achievements of the schools, heads of educational institutions spoke about the problems they face. In particular, it was noted that some schools need to expand dormitories, create modern laboratories and a mechanism to support students’ creativity. It was noted that sometimes school students are involved in various activities during lessons, which interferes with their learning process.

In addition, directors of creative schools shared their suggestions for improving curricula and  the quality of education in educational institutions, as well as creating new textbooks. The seminar emphasized the need to improve the system of advanced training for teachers and educators.

The directors suggested organizing subject Olympiads in the Agency’s system to ensure competition between schools. At the same time, the parties exchanged views on promoting 5 initiatives of the President among young people.

Another problem in the system is the late delivery of textbooks to these schools. Currently, schools receive textbooks from the Ministry of Public Education. At the workshop, it was proposed to create a mechanism for centralized delivery of textbooks to PIIMA schools.

Khilola Umarova recalled that the lesson is sacred and no one has the right to involve teachers and students in various activities or classes during the lesson.

The head of the agency pointed out the need to further improve the activities of creative schools to ensure the quality of education and vocational guidance of students in educational institutions.

The PIIMA Director supported the proposals for organizing subject Olympiads and competitions in the system and added that it is also necessary to develop a system for encouraging Olympiad winners and their mentors.

Khilola Umarova noted the weak work of creative schools in the development of cooperation with universities, in attracting their professors and teachers to teach students.

The Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Education Minhojiddin Khojimatov also took part in the seminar. First, they got acquainted with the projects of the Presidential, creative and specialized schools.

During the meeting with representatives of creative schools, the guests discussed issues of establishing cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, the Republican Spiritual and Educational Center and educational institutions.

In addition, school principals and their deputies took part in trainings on the creation of new textbooks, school management and other topics.

The guests were presented with a collection of poems by talented students of creative schools "A bouquet from the garden of creativity."

Based on the results of the seminar, the Agency for the Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools plans to develop a roadmap for improving the educational process in educational institutions.

It should be noted that at present there are 4 Presidential, 9 creative and 3 specialized schools in the PIIMA system, where 3397 students study under the guidance of highly qualified teachers.

In 2021, it is planned to open 3 new creative schools. At the same time, it is planned to create branches of the schools of Muhammad al-Khwarizmi and Abu Ali ibn Sina in 13 districts.
