PIIMA students take part in the ‘IBM Skills Network’ course on artificial intelligence

Students of Presidential and specialized schools, which are part of the Agency for Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools, took part in the course "Children and Technology: How to Create a Chatbot" using artificial intelligence based on Watson Assistant technology on 5 December 2020.

The course is organized by the Agency for Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools (PIIMA) in cooperation with Intela Education Uzbekistan and Integrated Technology Laboratory (partner of the leading distance learning platforms Coursera, edX and IBM Skills Network).

At the end of November 2020, PIIMA, Integrated Technology Laboratory and Intela Education Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation. Within the framework of the document, the parties intend to develop robotic online education and conduct various master classes and trainings related to the latest technologies.

This course is the first project in this collaboration. The seminar was attended by students of the Presidential schools in Nukus, Khiva, Namangan and Tashkent, as well as the specialized school named Al-Khorezmi, after Abu Ali Ibn Sino and the specialized school named after Mirzo Ulugbek.

As part of the course, the participants received theoretical and practical programming skills through the creation of a chatbot using the IBM product - Watson Assistant.

Watson Assistant is an AI-powered IBM product designed to create, train, and deploy interactive experiences across any application, on any device, and on any channel.

It should be noted that the artificial intelligence market is one of the promising markets. The market value for artificial intelligence is estimated at US$15 trillion to US$21 trillion. Uzbekistan can become one of the players in this market, which will create new jobs in the country. To ensure the country’s competitiveness in the artificial intelligence market, it is necessary to pay attention to the field of education and training of specialists in this area.

- One of the tasks set by the President of Uzbekistan for the educational system is vocational guidance for students. Information technology is one of the promising areas and new professions appear in this area. The development of artificial intelligence opens up new prospects, and we must be ready to provide our solutions and products in this area. PIIMA, Integrated Technology Laboratory (Intela) and Intela Education Uzbekistan intend to continue to jointly conduct various events to train future specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, said PIIMA Deputy Director Amirulla Abdullayev.
